The Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES) near Paris is a research institute focusing on mathematics, theoretical physics and related sciences. As its co-founder in 1958, the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) is represented on the institute’s Board of Directors.
The Institute conducts internationally highly recognised research. It offers outstanding researchers the opportunity for research stays without teaching obligations and administrative tasks. Research results are published every six months in the specialist journal “Les Publications mathématiques de l'IHES” and discussed at scientific conferences organised by the IHES.

The IHES National Committee is a working group of the SCNAT Platform Mathematics, Astronomy and Physics.
